Adirondack Chair: Almost There!
Share
For us, there's nothing quite like the satisfaction of a woodworking project nearing completion. Our Adirondack chair prototype is practically done, and the excitement is building!
It feels like we're "two licks away from biting into this Tootsie Roll"and the finish line is so close, you can almost taste it (or maybe I'm tasting sawdust).
Right now, it just needs a few more supports, knocking down the edges and some sanding, and a beautiful stain. Of course, a companion chair will eventually be built to complete the set.
Introducing the "Lounging Horizon" Collection
We're incredibly excited to announce that our Adirondack chair prototype will be the first in our line, the "Lounging Horizon" collection!
This project has been a remarkable learning experience, and the "Lounging Horizon" design perfectly exemplifies our focus on building innovative and complementary outdoor decor and furniture, that's relaxing, and fun!
A Word of Caution About Screws
One significant lesson learned from this build revolves around stainless steel screws. I purchased a set from Rockler, and unfortunately, the square drives repeatedly stripped out. This was quite frustrating, especially considering the $40 price tag for the set.
Fortunately for us, Rockler took notice of our issue and helped us out. But it's a good reminder to always verify that our screws and other fasteners are hardened before buying them, regardless of the vendor.
Stay tuned for updates as we put the finishing touches on this chair and start on its twin partner. Until then, please take a look at the prototype below. We have a few design upgrades we'd like to do, but generally this is the new Barking Beavers Adirondack chair:
